20 Weeks Old- Baby Jed

After naps we tried again and finally got Jed's 20 week old pictures...

Any chance he gets he is grabbing those feet...

His other favorite is pushing his belly up in the air and squirming around...

Ollie gets a bit jealous when Jed has his bear, he immediately wants his and wants to get a picture but he's at this funny stage where he tells me he wants something and then when I try and fulfill his request he protests and tells me "No!" and when I say okay and start to walk away he cries because I'm not giving him what he asked for, and if I attempt to give him his request again he tells me "No!" again and we repeat the whole process- terrible twos! Here he is pouting after telling me "No!" two seconds after he told me he wanted a picture with his bear...

And then he had to peak to see if I was leaving...

Silly boy, good thing the tantrums pass and he forgets he was even mad when gets to join in and play with his baby brother who thinks he is the greatest, funniest thing in the world!

Sometimes he cries...

Baby Jed is usually pretty chill, but today he just wanted to be held. I put him in his play jungle thing- not sure what you call it, so he could watch Ollie jumping around in his bounce. But after a few minutes he was already tired of it...

Those are really fake cries, more like a whine really, as soon as I lifted him up out of that thing he was over them, just looking around like nothing was going on- silly boy!

I tried to get his 20 week pictures today, while Ollie was settling down for a nap I had a date with Baby J and his teddy. I got the blanket up, but Jed was fussy so I stopped and snuggled him instead and he quickly fell asleep on my chest. After a bit I thought if I carefully rolled over and put him on the blanket that he might stay asleep, but he woke up as soon as I rolled over. I watched him for a second and he was full of smiles and started playing with his feet so I grabbed the camera and started shooting away...(I love it when he plays with his feet!)

And then he was done...

Look at those crocodile tears, poor baby...Time to put down the camera!

Nineteen Weeks Old- Baby Jed

I love this angelic little boy, he really is so sweet. Matt and I say it to each other all the time. He loves attention but he doesn't demand it. When he wakes up he lays in bed just kicking around and looking around but doesn't hardly make a peep and when you peek into the crib to find him laying there wide awake he just lights up with a big smile. It's the cutest thing. Ollie loves to go in with me to get him out of bed. He like to have me put him in the crib with him so he can talk to him and pat him on his tummy and make him laugh and smile. Nothing warms my heart more than seeing those two lovin' every moment with each other!

This past week we've been battling sickness. I had a work retreat last Thursday and Friday and on Wednesday night I was in the boys room changing Jed's diaper when I heard Ollie start crying in my room. I put Jed in his bed, he wasn't really ready to go down so after I left the room he started crying but I couldn't stop and grab him because when I walked into my room I found Ollie sitting in the middle of my bed in a pile of puke- yep all over my comforter, but you overlook that when your baby is crying. I grabbed Ollie and took him to the shower. I got him in and then grabbed Jed who hadn't stopped crying and headed for the shower so I could take care of both of them. It's always a balancing act. I then called Matt to see when he might be able to come home, he thought he could be home in 10 minutes so I prepared myself mentally to hang on for at least 10 more minutes till help could arrive...40 minutes later I was still juggling both boys and poor Ollie kept crying for Daddee- that's when I told him he was never, never coming home! I had been calm up to that moment but with juggling two boys that both needed my attention and knowing I still had a bed to clean up and dinner to make, etc. I just needed Matt and luckily he walked in at that moment...only to tell me he had 15 minutes to get changed and out the door again to meet up with the stake president to go on visits to ward members. I have never felt this way before, but at that moment I felt like I needed him more- luckily he did help me enough to get things mildly under control before he left.

Ollie never got a fever but he did wake up a few more times in the night and Matt was right there to rush him to the sink. Why are they so so sweet when they are sick? I think Jed might have gotten it because he woke up at 4:30am Saturday morning and was fussy and spitting up- but he always spits up so it is hard to tell if he was sick or not because he had no fever, but Ollie never got one either. Matt took care of Ollie on Thursday and since he seemed to be doing better he left him with Mom so he could meet up with me for the retreat. Pretty much Matt got spoiled on Friday while I worked but we had fun at the night time activities and Saturday we got to go on a hike with everyone. It felt good to be outside enjoying the weather and stretching our legs. Our welcome home on Saturday night was Ollie was throwing up all over again. Oh the joys! It really is amazing though how things I never thought I would have ever been able to handle- like throw up- are somehow manageable when it's your sweet little innocent child that is totally dependent on you to take care of them. Not that it's my favorite thing, it's just kind of astonishing that you can love someone so much that you can just deal with it. Those were my lessons for the week.

Back to sweet baby Jed, thought I would share a few shots of his funny little faces...

Love that boy!

Eighteen Weeks Old- Baby Jed

Just in case we haven't put him enough BYU gear...what can I say he looks good in navy! We started Jed on a new formula this past week. He is doing better, still spits up but the quantity is much less. The formula is hard to mix though, I didn't realize it right away. It took him literally an hour to drink his first bottle and he was kicking around the whole time. It wasn't until his second bottle that I realized there were lumps in the formula that kept clogging up the nipple of the bottle. Every time it would clog he would start kicking around to let me know he wasn't getting anything. I had to pull out a little mixer that someone gave me some time ago for mixing cups of hot chocolate. Never really used it but it is perfect for bottles, that really helped. Second problem we ran into was the formula started clogging Jed up! On Saturday I had to help him push out one big long hard poop log- whew! Poor guy! (I don't know what will be worse for him, pushing that out or reading about it at some later point in his life- he may kill me for writing about it haha!) Poop stories, I'm sure there are many more to come- Ollie sure is fascinated by poop and full of poop stories of his own right now!

Meet Bandit

Grandpa surprised Marmee with a puppy for Christmas, and little Bandit got to come over today to play. Ollie is absolutely in love, even as I pulled out the laptop he begged to see his pictures of Bandit. They had a fun time playing together all day, although it may have been more fun for Ollie than it was for Bandit- there were a few times he was a little rough with him and Bandit ran and hid. But for the most part it was fun and games. My favorite was watching Ollie run around the kitchen island yelling "Come and get me!" while Bandit chased him in circles. So fun!

Best bud already!

Should I be offended?

I'm pretty good at leaving projects out, and today I found that Ollie decided to help with one of them. I had our family picture printed and it was sitting on the frame that I intended to put it in on top of our dining room table (that is shoved in the corner right now to make room for Ollie's bounce), and I was surprised to see that the picture has my eyes scribbled out! I knew immediately who the culprit was and for a brief second I had to wonder if he was mad at me for something. But on closer look I saw that he had also started to scribble on his own eye, Matt's eyes went untouched, and Jed was lucky enough to get some artwork on his shoe. When I showed Ollie he proudly showed me how he colored Mommee's eyes and then he decided to give Mommee (the one on the picture) a hug to make it all better. Who can be mad at that, luckily I had printed two of them anyway!

Undies

So for the past month Ollie has basically been potty training himself. I haven't been ready to actually dedicate myself to it but after reading his potty book and thinking it was so funny that the boy goes potty in the toilet rather than his diaper and that his mom and dad and dog and cat all celebrate it that seemed to be enough motivation to want to go in the toilet himself. Well, I can't attribute it all to that, every time he is hungry for some candy or wants my attention he suddenly has to go poo poo. And he never disappoints, he gets in there and gets on the toilet and instructs me to "Sit down" pointing to the edge of the bathtub next to him and then he proceeds to make the funniest faces as he squeezes out farts until he poops. Good times! When Jed is lucky enough to get to go in there and sit with me he starts laughing the minute he sees Ollie making his faces, that really does crack me up hearing Jed laugh at him. His giggles are so cute, and lets admit it no-one can stick out his lips further than Ollie can. And the things he says in the whole process are quite humorous! He really hasn't had any issue going poo and not having to change poopy diapers has been great, but going pee pee has been another thing. We've been pretty casual about it and he can make himself go pee he just doesn't tell me if he has to go pee. So that is our new goal. This week he has been doing better about going pee so today I decided to let him go naked so he could start to better recognize when he has to go...that started our day with peeing in the floor two times in the morning. He got to help me clean it up, but he did make it to the toilet a few times as well. In the afternoon he could his bag of undies in my bedroom and wanted to put them on. I thought, what the heck why not? Mind as well get him excited about them so I let him pick out a pair and put them on. The funny thing is I didn't even get him the right size so they are huge on him but he still loved putting on his first pair of undies and feeling like a big boy. He put them on and then ran to the bathroom and took them off and came back to try on another pair, na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na, BATMAN!

He discovered that undies have a hole in them haha!

After I caught him for a few shots he ran off to the bathroom and a few minutes later he appeared back in the bedroom naked ready to try on another pair. He put all of the undies on my bed and then crawled up and sat in the middle of them all excited. He would pick up a pair and ask me which one it was and our conversation as he held up each one for me would go something like this: Me, "Green Lantern" Ollie, "Oh, Green Lantern!"

And then there was the hard choice, which one to try on next?

After much contemplation...

This one! No...This one!

And then he lost interest in picking one, he decided instead to pick up all of them and throw them in the air, and then on Jed...

Didn't let him keep throwing them on Jed, but let him have all kinds of fun bouncing around in a pile of undies and throwing them in the air over and over again. Who knew undies could be so exciting!!

It's funny how you imagine having a child and how much you will love them, but you can never fathom the simple silly little moments that they will bring every single day! And it is a good thing that they happen so often and that I love him so much because it makes it a lot easier to handle it when he decides to pee on my comforter, and an hour later while the comforter is in the wash he decides to pee on my sheets. At least he was smart enough to use that convenient hole in his undies so that when he peed on the comforter and sheets he didn't get his undies wet, I could still laugh at that! And when Matt and I were laying down to sleep on our bare mattress at least I was able to pull out the pictures of Ollie in his undies so we could have a good laugh together, one more day, one more memory, one day older- how is it going so fast???
